Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share this project with you! I teamed up with The Home Depot to create a statement wall using sheets of plywood and this is what I designed!

Earlier this year I did a makeover of 1/2 of my bedroom. I know that seems strange but at the time it was all I could afford to do. It turned out great and was even featured in Country Living Magazine! You can read how that happened here. Anyway…. little did everyone else know…..the other side of my bedroom looked like this. Totally Boring.
A new trend in wall treatments
When The Home Depot asked me to create a DIY plywood wall treatment I was more than ready to tackle this side of the room and try something different! I knew I was going to cover the whole wall in plywood panels but decided to add a little extra touch to create a Mid Century Modern / rustic look. I also wanted to incorporate some of the left over black paint from the wall across the room so I purchased some screen moulding and painted it for a dark contrast against the wood grain of the plywood.
If you follow me on Instagram you may remember this shell from an electric fireplace. I found it at a yard sale, minus the fireplace insert, for 20 bucks! It used to be a worn out white color but lucky for me I had enough left over black paint to fix it up as well. The color is Ink Black by Behr and I love it!
The perfect accent
Because the wall now has such great detail I wanted to keep everything else simple. This longhorn was the PERFECT final touch! Isn’t he gorgeous? My talented friend C.C. took this photo and you can find “King of the Hill” here along with so many other beautiful prints at www.ccandmike.com. An unexpected surprise was that my room actually felt bigger when I finished the project! The walls seemed taller too. The horizontal and vertical lines on the wall give the illusion of more height and width so if you have a smaller space don’t be afraid to try this!

Remember you can read the full tutorial and see my step by step photos on The Home Depot Blog by clicking here. Did I mention I spent less than $200 to create this statement wall with plywood? That’s a small amount of money for such a big impact on a room!
