Before I start talking about my love for vintage, I want to say hello to those of you who are visiting from the beautiful blog of House-Of-Five.com. Thank you for all for stopping by!
You are probably here because you want to learn some simple ways to add bits of vintage to your home. It’s surprisingly easy to do and vintage pieces work great with any style of décor! Whether you love the look of farmhouse, bohemian or an eclectic blend of it all, vintage knows how to play well with everyone!
Vintage Works With Any Style Of Décor!
My style is modern farmhouse combined with a little bohemian vibe and a dash of modern eclectic. I’m all over the place and I love it!
In my living room I use a vintage military trunk for a side table and a lumbar pillow made from a vintage Moroccan rug! I layered more vintage pieces by adding some burlap and an old, thrifted wood tray to the top of the trunk.
The rug and slipcovered sofa are new pieces that work well with my vintage “junk.” THRIFT TIP: When you cant find a throw you like look for large scarves and wraps at the thrift store!
It Takes time to Collect Vintage Treasures!
Have a little patience when searching for the perfect vintage pieces for your home.
I have learned the hard way that it takes time to find the perfect vintage items. It’s really just a constant game of hunting and collecting. The best reward is your items are unique and can’t be purchased by everyone else. You will have a home full of interest and stories to tell!
My dining room is a good example of that! The painted cupboard holds our family board games. I saved a couple old suitcases and added them to the top of the wardrobe for some color and texture. There is also a 1980’s light fixture holding some willow branches that were
stolen cut from my neighbors tree.
THRIFT TIP: When you come across old trunks and suitcases…grab them! They look amazing when stacked together and have a ton of hidden storage!
USE VINTAGE PIECES IN A FUN NEW WAY!
Another fun way to add some vintage flair is to use those treasures in new ways. This bamboo ice bucket was the perfect vase for a bouquet of flowers! The Mid Century Modern style of it worked with the farmhouse feel of my kitchen mainly because it was in the same neutral color palette. You can mix almost anything if you follow that simple tip!
I hope this post inspired you to find simple ways to add a bit of vintage to your home!
